Soil:
There is no 'Soil Act'. Nor are there any 'targets' for soil in the Environment Act 2012. The Act sets legally binding targets for air quality, biodiversity, water, and waste, but - despite a Lords Amendment - none for soil. Nor is there a 'Soil Health Action Plan', promised instead of the non-existent targets.

.

The EU Soil Monitoring Law (2025) introduces a monitoring framework for all soils across the European Union. The proposed directive establishes a definition of what constitutes healthy soil. The law aims to present the information necessary to monitor European soils’ health and provide incentives for sustainable soil management PopUpFact
